Whoa...the Captain just told me about this!

How cool is this? The Captain just posted it on his Facebook page, so you may have already seen it, but I wanted to re-post it anyway.

By the way, I hope your holiday season has been peaceful so far...thank you from the bottom of all of our hearts for your support of the Captain's upcoming show. It's been a tremendous amount of work on his behalf (and every one of us helping him has done what we can) and I think you're going to be really happy with the pilot episode.

Exciting happenings are....well, happening here at the Acres!  The Captain's had some pretty important-sounding phone calls lately, he's staying up late working on his TV show to make it oh-so-very BRILLIANT for all of you, and everyone else here at the Acres are getting caught up in the enthusiasm and hard work.

Soooo...I'll still be updating the blog, but only a few times a week.  I know, I know, I'll miss each and every one of you on the days I can't check in here, but it's all worth it, I promise you!

They Might Be Thursdays: Photosynthesis by TMBG

Hello, hello, hellooooooooo everyone!

So this morning I woke up, made some tea, and stepped outside to enjoy a little fresh air and sunshine.  I was delighted and oh-so-very surprised to find a BEAUTIFUL Hibiscus plant sitting on my porch!  There was a little card inside saying this was a housewarming gift from the Captain and everyone at Kangaroo Acres.

Since today is They Might Be Giants day and I have a new plant to take care of, I'm going to share a video from TMBG about photosynthesis....photo-WHAT??  Don't worry, the band will explain what it is and why plants are so fantastic-ly incredible!!

They Might Be Thursdays: ROY G. BIV by TMBG

Today at Kangaroo Acres, we had the weirdest weather.  First it rained, then it was sunny, and then it got oh-so-very windy and then there was hail and then it was sunny again.  

And then it rained.

Whew.

We kept looking out the windows at the sky, trying to see our friend, Roy G. Biv.  What's that?  You've never heard of him?

Oh, here he is now!

I really hope it's a beautiful, sunny day where you live, but if it happens to rain, make sure to look up.  Maybe Roy will visit your house!

They Might Be Thursday: Put it to the Test by TMBG

Bonjour Kangaroonies!

 I was riding my bicyclette around the Acres yesterday (it was such an oh-so beautiful day!  I hope you spent it outside too!) and I saw some ants trying to figure out how to get a berry back to their ant hill.  


I sat on the ground and watched them test different ideas: all of them tried carrying it, then one tried doing a wiggly dance behind the berry to get it to move, and finally some other ants joined them and they all managed to push/carry it back to the hill.


I love the idea of testing ideas and finding the solution.  Sometimes you'll find a different solution than someone else and that's okay!  


And you know what?  One of our favorite bands, They Might Be Giants, sings about that very thing!

Can you believe video games used to LOOK like that?  :)

Put an idea to the test today...let me know what happens!

They Might Be Thursday: "Meet the Elements by TMBG

Bonjour Kangaroonies! 

Thank you for hanging out with me this past week and making me feel welcome. I'm looking forward to many more weeks with you here on the Captain's blog...feel free to say hi and continue to make video suggestions; I love hearing from you!

What's that? Some of you aren't sure what "bonjour" means? It's a French word that means Hello! in English. Try using this word when you greet people today!

So did you watch the video I posted first or did you skip ahead to see what I have to say about it? Either way is COMPLETELY fine by me! If you haven't been able to tell already, the Captain and his friends LOVE the band, They Might Be Giants...so much so that we like to feature a video by them every Thursday. I'm not sure WHAT we'll do when we run out of their videos...

They Might Be Thursdays: PIRATE GIRLS NINE by They Might Be Giants

Oh, hello again!

So here we are, on a beeee-YOU-tiful Thursday, and I found myself wondering what kind of video I would share with you today.

I watched a video about peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and got oh-so-very hungry. After eating, I watched a video about aerialists from Australia (an aerialist is a really strong person who performs in the air, like a tightrope walker - I bet you've seen one in a circus before!) and got kind of dizzy!

After closing my eyes and humming a little song, I wasn't dizzy anymore, so then I watched this video and I knew it was the one for today!
